Assignments
Not everything important needs to stay on your agenda.
Some matters are too important to be left unattended, but do not need to remain on the executive agenda.
A mandate creates the space to delegate a specific mission to someone experienced, with clear boundaries, agreed autonomy and responsibility for moving it forward.
Define the mission. Agree the autonomy. Deliver the outcome.
TYPES OF ASSIGNMENTS
The scope may vary significantly. What these assignments have in common is their strategic relevance, the need for dedicated follow-through, and the value of having someone clearly responsible for moving the matter forward.
◉ Special Projects
“I have an unconventional challenge that does not fit neatly into a typical role or project, but I need someone experienced to structure it and move it forward.”
Tailored assignments for specific challenges — from leadership development and support, service design applied to service portfolios, and the creation of mentor or expert networks, to the design of dashboards and simple management and performance systems.
Projects may involve diagnosis, solution design, mobilising the right people, creating practical tools or supporting implementation — always with a clear objective and a pragmatic approach.
◉ Business Assessment
"I have an opportunity under review and need an independent assessment before moving forward."
Assessment of opportunities, new businesses, business units, investments or other situations where it is important to better understand the potential, the risks and the conditions required to proceed.
◉ Transformation & Turnaround
"The organisation needs to change, but someone has to structure and drive the process."
Assignments focused on reorganisation, recovery, repositioning or consolidation, bringing together diagnosis, priorities, people and execution.
◉ Investment & Pitch Preparation
“I need to prepare the business and present the opportunity to potential investors in a solid and credible way.”
Preparing the business for investment processes: business case, narrative, key metrics, presentation materials, pitch preparation and organisation of the information needed to begin conversations with investors and other stakeholders.
◉ Partnerships, Acquisitions & Strategic Development
“I want to identify a partner, assess an acquisition or explore a strategic transaction, but I need someone dedicated to working through the process.”
Identification and assessment of potential partners or targets, exploration of acquisition, merger or collaboration opportunities, initial structuring of the strategic rationale and support in approaching and coordinating the parties involved.
◉ Shareholder Representation & Strategic Interests
“I need someone experienced to follow this matter closely and represent my interests.”
Representation in specific situations requiring close follow-through, independent analysis, liaison with management, partners or other stakeholders, and regular reporting to the principal.
WHAT TO EXPECT?
Clear responsibility for a previously defined mission.
Autonomy tailored to the desired level of delegation.
A practical and structured approach to complex matters.
Coordination across strategy, information, people and stakeholders.
Access to complementary specialist expertise when the mandate requires it.
Simple reporting focused on the decision points that matter.
Discretion, independence and a constant focus on results.
An assignment is neither ongoing consulting nor a substitute for management. It is the temporary delegation of a specific mission to someone responsible for moving it forward.
DO YOU HAVE A MATTER THAT NEEDS TO COME OFF YOUR AGENDA?
We define the mission, the level of autonomy and the expected outcome. From there, I move it forward.
HOW IT WORKS
Each assignment begins by clarifying the mission, the expected outcome, the boundaries of the assignment, the stakeholders involved and the points that require the client’s decision.
From there, I take responsibility for moving the matter forward: structuring the work, gathering and analysing information, coordinating the relevant parties, preparing materials, bringing in specialist expertise when appropriate and ensuring that the mission continues to progress.
The level of autonomy is agreed from the outset. The decision-maker retains control over the essential decisions without having to manage the process day to day.
The objective is simple: take the matter off your agenda without taking it out of your control. Define the assignment. Agree the autonomy. Deliver the outcome.
Your first conversation is on me.
